Michael Caracappa was a competitive runner in high school and college. He grew up in New Jersey, attended New York University, and worked for New York Road Runners in their Brand Marketing and Communications Department. After getting his degree in 2014, he moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to world-class rock climbing destinations and to pursue his new-found passion of rock climbing. He worked for USA Triathlon before moving into his current position as marketing director for CityROCK Climbing Center.
