Peak Environment on Studio 809

Peak EnvironmentJoin the crowd and get your sustainability game on at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs on Saturday, July 27, 2019. In this episode, Peak Environment co-producers Ellen Johnson-Fay and Dave Gardner are joined by Ryan Trujillo, Innovation & Sustainability Manager for the City of Colorado Springs. Ryan fills us in on the upcoming Sustain-a-Fest event, and also answers questions about the interesting activities of his office and staff. Innovation can play a key role in slimming the ecological and carbon footprint of our city.

2019 brings the 3rd annual Sustain-a-Fest. This event is a community celebration of “Earth Day Every Day” with sustainability exhibits & activities, along with local food trucks, live music, demonstrations, and family friendly activities. It runs from noon to 7 pm on Saturday, July 27. Admission is free. On stage will be musical performances by Tejon Street Corner Thieves, Wendy St. Cyre Band, and Spur.

There will be opportunities to learn about water and energy conservation, composting, trails and parks, and much more. Colorado Springs EV Club will be there showing off electric vehicle, and PikeRide will have a booth where you can see their newest electric-assist bikeshare bicycles. Bring your own reusable water bottle. Colorado Springs Utilities will refill it free with frozen margaritas (not! but it will be fresh, cold water). Studio 809 will have a booth and we’ll be recording an episode of Peak Environment. Stop by and say hello!
